During my first year in Victory School Of Ministry, also known as VSOM, we took a foreign mission trip to Nicaragua! We worked with Kings Castle based in Nicaragua. They have bases all over Central America. Anyways, our whole school went for ten days to minister to Nicaraguan kids on the streets, schools, and parks. I loved seeing the culture and working with Nicaraguan Bible school students during our stay. Making connections with people in foreign countries is something I love doing! I love exploring and embracing different countries culture and people.
Kings Castle has a motto "If we can get a kid saved before the age of six, he's in heaven for life." Nicaragua and many Central American countries have a big problem with gangs. One of the biggest gangs in El Salvador has a motto "If we can get a kid to commit his first murder by the age of six, he's in a gang for life." That's how Kings Castle got their motto. Kings Castle mainly ministers to children, especially gang areas. Kings Castle preforms programs directed towards kids. We learned dances, dramas, games, and human videos that the kids would love and be able to interact with. At the end of programs we had a short message and we would pray with the kids for salvation, healing, and problems at home. We trained our first day there and learned everything we need to learn to minister, then we went out to different zones, or cities, everyday and did programs till dinner or sometimes later. It was amazing to be apart of!
My favorite part of the trip was actually two different places we went. One day we went to a school where we were at all day and i got to minister to at least a dozen girls who were crying and just needed someone to love them... At first it was frustrating to see all of these girls crying and have a language barrier prevent me from reaching out to them. But, just because i didn't speak fluent Spanish, doesn't mean that God didn't do an amazing thing. I did exactly what i needed to. Those girls need some speech... all they wanted was to be held and have a shoulder to cry on, and I was honored to be the girl that God used to do that with. I reached out to them in the way that they needed me to. The second place we went was a special needs home. They had kids and elderly disabled people in this building who are taken care of continuously everyday. I loved going there and being able to play with these kids with down syndrome, physical disabilities and mental disabilities. I was Jesus to those people and I was blessed to be able to be a part of their life in that moment. Our last day in Nicaragua we got to have a free day and go to the beach! It was so nice, and a nice break from all our hard work on our trip.
Every country is different, but they all need the same thing. They all have issues. They all have struggles. They all are desperate. There needs to be a change. They need to be awaken.
"The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory." -Revelation 21:24
